Dinah Shore
The Dinah Shore Wall of Champions relief sculpture by Zenos Frudakis honors Dinah Shore, the "First Lady of Golf" and a lifelong advocate for women's golf. Installed as a permanent tribute, the work recognizes her extraordinary influence on the LPGA Tour and her enduring contributions to women's sports.
This life-size bronze relief portrays Shore from the knees upward. One of the sculpture's most distinctive features is Frudakis’ innovative use of progressively increasing depth. Shore's lower legs emerge subtly from the flat 3-by-4-foot bronze plaque, maintaining a close relationship to the background plane. As the sculpture rises through the torso and arms, the relief becomes increasingly pronounced, culminating in her hands and golf club projecting fully into three-dimensional space. This dynamic transition from low relief to fully sculptural form creates a striking sense of movement and presence.
The bronze relief is set within the Wall of Champions, constructed of pastel-colored Cantera stone—the same material used on the Mission Hills clubhouse. Positioned at the center of the monument, the sculpture is surrounded by the names of past tournament champions carved into the stone, celebrating the history and legacy of one of women's golf's most prestigious events.
