Richard Dawkins, portrait sculpture

Richard Dawkins portrait sculpture by artist Zenos Frudakis, sculpted from life, is a work in progress, that will be cast in bronze.

Richard Dawkins is a British evolutionary biologist, zoologist, science communicator, and author. He is an emeritus fellow of New College, Oxford, and served as the University of Oxford’s Professor for Public Understanding of Science from 1995 to 2008. He currently serves on the advisory board of the University of Austin. Dawkins has received numerous honors for his contributions to science and literature, including the Royal Society of Literature Award, the Michael Faraday Prize, and the Lewis Thomas Prize for Writing about Science.

He is the author of many influential books, including The Selfish Gene, The Blind Watchmaker, The God Delusion, An Appetite for Wonder, and Brief Candle in the Dark.

In 2006, Dawkins founded the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science (RDFRS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting scientific literacy, critical thinking, and secularism. RDFRS supported research on the psychology of belief and religion, funded educational programs and materials, and collaborated with secular charitable organizations. In January 2016, the foundation merged with the Center for Inquiry, with Dawkins joining the new organization’s board of directors. The Richard Dawkins Award, presented annually, honors individuals who promote secularism and rationalism.
