“Frudakis: Two Generations of Sculpture” August 17 – November 10 in the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley

On display are five pieces, mostly in bronze, by each of three members of this Philadelphia-area family of artists: brothers EvAngelos and Zenos Frudakis and the former's daughter Jennifer Frudakis.

Site coordinator Sommer Toffle said that one of the reasons curator Scott Dimond chose to feature the Frudakis family is the strong appreciation for more traditional art forms found among valley residents, which melds well with the family aesthetic of “reverence for the artistic legacy of ancient Greece combined with a strong belief in the American Dream.”  Include an 8-inch rendering of area favorite son Arnold Palmer leaning on a golf club, by Zenos Frudakis,  and you have a guaranteed winner.

Joining the artistic trio at the reception were loved ones Paul Petry, Georgia Wallace, Kalen  Wallace, Merrill and Nancy Brenner, Jason McDavid, Laura McDavid and Rosalie Frudakis. Also attending were SAMA museum system Executive Director Gary Moyer with Suzy, Gene and Barbara Kravitz, Daniel and Sharon McCue, Bill and Sue Pollins, Bill and Bonnie Hoffman, Al and Connie Pilz, Jim and Jenifer Isbister, Tom and Christen Mizikar and Frank and Linda Santry.
